talk on “Innovative Entrepreneurship” by Er. N. Kanagasabathi, President,
Thiruchirappalli District Tiny & Small Scale Industries Association and
Vice President, Tamilnadu Small and Tiny Industries Association, was conducted
as part of the of BECH-Awareness Series1
at the Bharathidasan University, Khajamalai campus by Bharathidasan
University Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub (BECH).
Mr. Kanagasabathi in his talk cited the examples of various entrepreneurs who
began from humble backgrounds and went on to be successful through innovative
thinking and passionate hard work. He asked the students to concentrate on
expanding their skill base as it is as important as one’s knowledge base in
pursuit of success. He gave students an elaborate idea about the various
schemes and initiatives by the government aimed at encouraging innovat6ion and
entrepreneurship also adding the ways in which Tamilnadu Small and Tiny
Industries Association and BECH can help and support the students in becoming
entrepreneurs. He shared his journey of becoming a successful entrepreneur, his
various sources of inspiration, his social service activities and
accomplishments with the students giving them tremendous motivation and
direction. He promised all possible help and guidance to BECH and its
activities adding that the awareness series is the first one among a series of
initiatives by BECH to augment innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

Entrepreneurship in the curriculum in teaching
and
research conducts programmes to motivate students and scholars to be innovative
in their thinking and to instill the idea of becoming entrepreneurs in future.

Hub (BECH) of welcomed the gathering and Prof. N. Prasanna, Dy. Director i/c,
Bharathidasan University Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub (BECH)
proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. M. Ravichandran introduced the guests and
also gave the students a perspective regarding innovation, entrepreneurship and
the necessity of thinking out of the box in entrepreneurship. He stated that
entrepreneurs, being job creates are the engines of growth of a country and
that students turning to entrepreneurship can prove to be a game changer in the
economic development of the country. Dr. Prasanna informed that students and
research scholars of the university can submit proposals regarding new business
models, thematic projects to BECH which will have funded by the cell if
approved. He also added that students can participate in international exchange
programmes, do Post-doctoral fellowships and internships with BECH and that the
cell will provide seed investment and development environment for innovative
startups by students and research scholars. The talk was attended by a great
number of students and faculty from various departments of the university.
