The Workshop on Naturopathy Yoga Kendra
and Clinic was organised by Bharathidasan University, Entrepreneurship, Innovation
and Career Hub (BECH-RUSA 2.0) in collaboration with TSRO, Tamil Nadu on 27th
July, 2021 in Khajamalai Campus, Bharathidasan University.
N. Prasanna, Director i/c, BECH-RUSA 2.0,
during his introductory address said that BECH-RUSA 2.0 has been identified as
the State Resource Centre for promoting the Naturopathy Yoga Kendra and Clinic
initiative of the Ministry of Ayush, GoI. BECH-RUSA 2.0 will provide training
to the nodal NGOs identified in Tamil Nadu by the Ministry of Ayush, GoI and
potential entrepreneurs with respect to Naturopathy Yoga Kendra and Clinic.
This workshop is a prelude to the other initiatives coming in the due course of
time.
Raghavendra Rao, Director, CCRYN (Central
Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy), Ministry of Ayush, GoI, during
his presidential address observed that the GoI has fully funded various
activities related to naturopathy and yoga. The right attitude and mind set with
respect to Indian ethos is the key success in developing this sector. He also
highlighted the need for collaboration between NGOs, Governments and the
Private sector across the nation.
M. Selvam, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan
University, observed that nature is the best medicine and we should move in the
direction of sustainable processes and solutions. In this respect the
Naturopathy Yoga Kendra and Clinic is the right initiative promoted by the GoI
and especially the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. He observed that Bharathidasan
University through its Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub (BECH-RUSA
2.0) is leading in this respect by organising the first of its kind workshop on
Naturopathy Yoga Kendra and Clinic to promote entrepreneurship in this emerging
field. He finally observed that this
workshop will bring a good momentum in developing innovative entrepreneurs.
Prof. T.V. Kattimani,
Vice-Chancellor, Tribal University, Andhra Pradesh, emphasized the need for
practicing and promoting traditional Indian practices, which people have
forgotten during recent times. He observed that India has a rich heritage of
wellbeing practices, which are still being followed by many tribes. Such
practices have also been highlighted in the New Education Policy of the GoI.
N. Manavalan,
Joint Director, Department of Ayush, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, spoke about the
importance of naturopathy and yoga in our culture since ages. He stressed the
need for BNYS doctors and NYKCs to rejuvenate the importance of naturopathy and
yoga among the general public so that people from all walks of life can lead a
healthy life.
Mr. Vivek
Seigell, Assistant Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New
Delhi, highlighted that PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the first to
start the process of promoting naturopathy and yoga through their initiative on
“AROGYAM” supported by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu. He also observed that the
wellness sector has high potential and Tamil Nadu would lead by example through
starting up of NYKCs across the state.
S. Venkataramaniah,
Chief Resource Officer, NYKC & Associate Professor, IIM, Lucknow in his
address suggested a four pronged approach for the NYKC initiative, viz., NGOs
to spread awareness, BNYS doctors to treat and advise patients, finance for
starting up NYKCs and training for all stake holders.
Chandrasekar,
Secretary, INYGMA (Indian Naturopathy and Yoga Graduates Medical Association),
suggested a strategic approach to developing the NYKCs in Tamil Nadu in
particular and India at large.
Gopinath
Ganapathy, Registrar, Bharathidasan University, emphasized the need for
entrepreneurship in the area on naturopathy and yoga. He said that the
distinguishing feature of an entrepreneur is ‘taking risk’ and encouraged the
participants to become entrepreneurs by starting NYKCs.
Ravindran,
General Manager, DIC, Trichy, and Apavoo, AGM, SBI, Trichy spoke about the
various modes of finance and schemes available through the Government and Bank.
Praveen B. Arany, Department of Dental Medicine, University of Buffalo, USA,
spoke about the Using Light as a Theraphy, Adarsh Mittal, Master Trainer, EDII,
Tamil Nadu, spoke about the Business Ideation, T. Rajamanikandan, Proprieter,
Green Lip Food Packaging (Herbal Biscuits), Trichy, spoke about the Success
Stories and Scientific Ayurveda, B. Prakashkumar, Professional Yoga &
Martial Arts Trainer, Madurai, Yoga for Wellness, Mr. Chollin Selvan, Manging
Partner, Cornions Industries, Trichy, and M. Vinoth, Incubation Scientist, Anna
University were the resource persons of the workshop.
